XDefiant Will Cease Operations On June 3, 2025

Ubisoft and Ubisoft San Francisco have announced that they will begin delisting the free-to-play multiplayer first-person shooter XDefiant today, with plans to shut down the servers on June 3, 2025. Until the servers are closed, current players will still have the opportunity to play and access new content.

Additionally, Stephen Totilo from Game File reports that Ubisoft San Francisco and Ubisoft Osaka are closing, potentially affecting up to 277 employees. Half of the XDefiant team will be reassigned to other projects.

XDefiant was initially released on May 21 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Mark Rubin announced XDefiant will stop operations, halting downloads today and closing servers by June 3, 2025. Refunds will be given for recent purchases. He praised the team for reaching over 15 million players and emphasized open developer-player communication. Rubin expressed gratitude to the community for their support, remaining proud of the team's achievements despite the closure.
