World of Taris - China's WoW-like MMO & Mobile Game will Start Beta Test on June 8th
As World of Warcraft shuts down, MMORPG games in China seem to have entered a dilemma, but it also hides a new wave of opportunities. World of Taris, a highly anticipated self-developed MMORPG by Tencent, inherits 90% of the characteristics of World of Warcraft and adds the Iron Triangle setting and classic dungeon gameplay.
World of Taris will begin its test on June 8th, covering Android, iOS, and PC platforms.
In the latest gameplay PV, World of Taris showcased previously undisclosed content such as the Snow Lion Tribe Barbarian Fighter and ice and snow-themed scenes.
World of Taris is an open-world game set in a Western fantasy background, where players can freely explore, adventure, battle, collect, and craft. The game features high-quality art, a vast world view, diverse races and professions, and rich PvE and PvP gameplay. The game also adopts an expansion-like seasonal update format, with each expansion season introducing new dungeons, raids, gameplay, and equipment sets, offering a new gaming experience.
The class system in World of Taris continues the classic warrior, mage, archer, and other eight professions. Each profession has two specializations and its own talent tree, allowing players to choose the career path that suits them best. With the dungeon's Iron Triangle mechanic, whether solo or in a group, the Tank and Healer roles take priority, making it easier to find teammates for dungeon runs.
Despite being a mobile game, World of Taris maintains a "hardcore" approach in its dungeon battles. It incorporates tactical strategies such as focus fire, target designation, and dispersion, as well as elements like multi-phase boss transformations and group damage absorption, making the combat process challenging and strategic.
The enhanced materials and rare equipment dropped by dungeons and bosses naturally become important aspects of the game's progression and wealth accumulation. With the built-in trading system in World of Taris, players can achieve wealth accumulation and progression more efficiently. By teaming up for dungeon challenges, they can improve combat efficiency and increase the probability of equipment drops, achieving more with less effort.
In terms of the game's trading system, World of Taris also "borrows" similar peer-to-peer trading and auction house models from World of Warcraft, providing players with convenient trading methods. Equipment has a chance to drop and differences in attribute values, which stabilizes the equipment prices during wealth accumulation, ensuring long-term operation in the game.
