ReSetna: A Post-Apocalyptic Metroidvania Coming Soon
Publisher indie.io and developer Today’s Games have announced that ReSetna, a side-scrolling Metroidvania game, will launch on January 31, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions will follow in Q1 2025.
A Unique Post-Apocalyptic Journey
Set in a fractured, post-organic world, ReSetna tells the gripping story of a combat-ready robot, ReSetna, awakened by the APEX AI to combat a rogue Signal—a mysterious digital frequency disrupting robotic units and wreaking havoc on the remnants of civilization.
Players will traverse decaying zones, uncover hidden secrets, and confront the Signal’s influence alongside ReSetna’s loyal drone companion, IXA. Combining tactical combat, exploration, and environmental storytelling, the game promises a rich, immersive experience.
The full game will include seven distinct zones and over 20 hours of gameplay.
New Gameplay Teaser Highlights Two Key Zones
The latest gameplay teaser offers a closer look at two areas: the Darkness Zone and Acidia.
Acidia: Once home to Energetech Solutions, a company focused on renewable energy, Acidia became a desolate wasteland following experiments with Entropium, an unstable synthetic substance. These tests tore holes in space and time, giving birth to the Darkness Zone, a chaotic dimension where reality’s rules are distorted.
Now, Acidia is a dangerous region littered with remnants of advanced technology and the scars of Entropium’s catastrophic effects.
The teaser also unveils glimpses of the game’s intense boss battles, showcasing the challenges awaiting players in this mysterious world.
A Soundtrack That Mirrors a Broken World
The ReSetna soundtrack, composed by Nikola Jeremic, uniquely blends organic and synthetic sounds to reflect its post-apocalyptic setting. Jeremic uses real instruments such as metal and wood, distorting them to create a “dirty” and “decayed” sound.
With influences from retro synthwave and ambientwave, the score immerses players in the haunting beauty of a world filled with forgotten machines.
Innovative Gameplay Features and Global Accessibility
ReSetna introduces a unique Tetris Chip Upgrade System, allowing players to collect and customize upgrades for abilities and weapons. This flexible system rewards exploration and strategic play, enabling players to tackle increasingly difficult challenges in their own style.
Additionally, ReSetna will be localized into multiple languages, including English, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Latin), Portuguese (Latin), German, French, and Russian, ensuring players worldwide can fully immerse themselves in the story.
Demo Available Now on Steam
For those eager to explore the world of ReSetna, a demo is now available on Steam. It features the first zone, Polis13, and an intense boss fight, offering a polished introduction to the game’s mechanics and narrative.
The full game will feature six additional zones, each showcasing unique and vibrant art styles.
Mark your calendars for ReSetna’s launch on January 31, 2025, and prepare to uncover the secrets of this post-apocalyptic world.
