Monster Hunter Wilds releases "Basic Actions", "Focus Mode" and "Big Sword" weapon overview
Although there is a long way to go before Monster Hunter Wilds officially releases, Capcom has already revealed some basic mechanics players can expect from the RPG. These mechanics include weapon basics, slinger function, Focus Mode, and abilities that can be used when riding a Seikret.
Basic Gameplay Features
Here is a list of some of the basic gameplay features that you should be aware of when hunting monsters in the upcoming franchise entry.
Basic Weapon Mechanics
1) When the Weapon is Sheathed
When your weapon is sheathed, you can move faster and use items like healing potions. The only exception is the Sword and Shield, which do not need to be sheathed to use items.
2) When the Weapon is Drawn
With your weapon drawn, you move slower, and your mobility is limited based on the weapon. However, weapons can only be used in this state, allowing access to various attacks and abilities.
3) Focus Mode
Focus Mode is a new mechanic that lets you carefully aim your attacks or guards. It highlights wounded parts of the monster's body, dealing more damage when attacked. Focus Mode also reveals the monster’s weak points and allows for unique Focus Strikes for each weapon.
Basic Seikret Mechanics
Seikret is the new mount in Monster Hunter Wilds, essential for map navigation and faster travel.
1) Automatic Guidance to Target Monster
The Seikret automatically takes you to your quest's target monster, letting you prepare before the fight starts.
2) Use Consumables and Sharpen Weapons While Mounted
Mounted on a Seikret, you can use consumables and sharpen your weapons, crucial for combat efficiency.
3) Gather Materials While Mounted
You can gather materials and crafting resources from the environment while mounted by tapping the button prompt.
4) Switch Between Primary and Secondary Weapons
Seikrets have a bag for switching between primary and secondary weapons while mounted, adding gameplay versatility.
5) Use Your Slinger While Mounted
While riding a Seikret, you can use your Slinger to fire the Grapple Hook, Flashbombs, or other slinger ammo.
Basic Slinger Mechanics
The Slinger is standard equipment for all hunters.
1) Fire Various Types of Ammo
Slinger ammo can be obtained from the environment, with each type having unique interactions with monsters.
2) Hook Slinger for Gathering Items and Interacting with the Environment
The Hook Slinger allows you to gather slinger ammo and other materials from a distance. It can also interact with the terrain, such as bringing down hanging rocks on monsters to knock them out for a while.
Capcom's reveal of these mechanics hints at a rich and engaging experience for players awaiting the release of Monster Hunter Wilds. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches!
