Miraibo GO to Shut Down on January 17, 2025, Following Copyright Dispute with Nintendo
DREAMCUBE has officially announced the closure of Miraibo GO, its Palworld-inspired open-world survival title, which will shut down on January 17, 2025. The developers cited "adjustments in their game development and operation strategies" as the reason for the shutdown, but it is widely believed that the closure is primarily due to a copyright dispute with Nintendo.
Miraibo GO Faces Same Fate as Palworld
Mirabo GO is a monster-themed open-world survival game, drawing heavy inspiration from Palworld, the popular game that combines monster collection with combat and survival mechanics. Similar to Palworld, Miraibo GO features a variety of monsters—over 100 in total—each with unique skills and elements that can be tamed and used for exploration, combat, and resource management tasks like farming and gathering.
The game also incorporates a mechanic similar to Pokémon Go, where players can capture monsters by throwing spheres at them while they are vulnerable.
Unfortunately, Miraibo GO faces the same legal challenges that recently plagued Palworld. Not long ago, Palworld was embroiled in a legal battle with Nintendo, which resulted in a significant loss for the Palworld team. The game was forced to pay a hefty fine due to similarities in design. Miraibo GO now finds itself in a similar predicament, which has likely led to its early shutdown.
Shutdown Announcement and Timeline
The Miraibo GO team has confirmed that all operations will cease on January 17, 2025, following the termination of game services. Despite the anticipated outcome, many players were shocked by how quickly the shutdown came after the game's launch just a month ago.
In terms of the shutdown process, the game’s "Free World" feature will be discontinued on December 20, 2024, while VIP memberships and guild servers will be taken offline on January 17, 2025, the same day as the final shutdown. After this date, players will no longer be able to access any of the game’s worlds, and the game will no longer be available for download on either the Google Play Store or the App Store.
Refund Process for Players
If you've spent money on Miraibo GO, there is some good news: you can request a refund for unused VIP memberships and guild server purchases before the service shuts down. Refunds can be processed via Google Play or the App Store, depending on the platform you used for your purchase. However, it's important to note that not all purchases will be eligible for a refund, which is unfortunate for some players.
