CD PROJEKT RED has announced the release of Cyberpunk 2077's free Update 2.0, introducing a plethora of substantial gameplay enhancements and new features. These include revamped skill trees and perks, a redesigned cyberware system, vehicle combat, thrilling car chases, an innovative police system, and much more. Alongside the launch of Update 2.0, the studio hosted a new episode of REDStreams on Twitch, providing an in-depth look at the gameplay changes and featuring developer interviews.

Update 2.0 stands as the most extensive free update to Cyberpunk 2077 to date, offering a wide array of significant new additions and reworked elements that impact nearly every facet of the gaming experience. This update is now available for all owners of Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Key highlights of Update 2.0 include the complete overhaul of skill trees and perks, introducing numerous fresh skills that add exciting abilities, opening up new avenues for gameplay styles. These new skill trees have been meticulously designed to grant players greater freedom, enabling them to intuitively construct unique and effective playstyles.

Another pivotal addition is the revamped cyberware system, which now governs armor. Furthermore, Update 2.0 introduces a character-level-based cyberware limit system, necessitating a more strategic approach with each visit to the ripperdoc, thus enhancing gameplay variety.

A brand-new feature is the inclusion of vehicle combat, allowing players to wield weapons and use quickhacks while operating vehicles. This means you can freely unleash gunfire while driving, brandish katanas on motorcycles, remotely control enemy cars and trigger explosive confrontations, and partake in dynamic chases throughout Night City.

Complementing the vehicle combat is an entirely new police system, featuring improved AI and a novel threat escalation mechanism. NCPD forces now adapt to the player's actions on the streets, demonstrating varying levels of determination and deploying new tactics, including the use of barricades. At the highest threat level, players face a formidable challenge in the form of MaxTac, the elite NCPD unit, making each encounter a dynamic and highly demanding boss battle.

Additionally, Update 2.0 introduces three new radio stations into the base game: Growl FM, with its playlist curated entirely by the Cyberpunk 2077 community, Impulse Radio featuring a DJ set by Idris Elba, who portrays Solomon Reed in the expansion, and Darkstar Radio, which includes two songs by Elba.

And there's more to come for Cyberpunk 2077—Phantom Liberty, a full-fledged expansion for the base game, is set to launch on September 26th on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with availability for streaming via GeForce NOW. This expansion will deliver a fresh spy-thriller narrative, an entirely new district to explore, new quests, contracts, items, weapons, and much more.
