Originally unveiled at G-Star 2023 in Korea, CoA: Crystal of Atlan is Nuverse’s ambitious action MMORPG that fuses magic with machinery in a uniquely “mad-punk” setting. After an extended development period and a quiet spell following the 2023 technical tests, the game is poised for a comeback. In early 2025, Newverse partnered with Zurung Games’ Sugarfun brand to set the stage for a global closed beta (CBT), scheduled to launch on February 18, 2025, with tester recruitment commencing on February 7.

Revolutionary Gameplay That Breaks the Mold
Though categorized as an MMORPG, Crystal of Atlan leans heavily into action RPG mechanics. The game stands out for its fluid, combo-driven combat system, featuring ground and aerial maneuvers such as double jumps and mid-air attacks. During the CBT, players can choose from four core classes—Inspector, Gunner, Mage, and Puppeteer—with the unique opportunity to mix and match skills to create eight distinct playstyles. In particular, the “Cannon Shooter” within the Gunner class channels the power of the titular Atlan Crystal, a mechanic that not only inspires the game’s name but also delivers exhilarating, dynamic combat.

A World of Diverse Regions and Cooperative Challenges
Combat unfolds across the richly detailed Atlan continent. Starting from the quaint Lumi Village, players can explore seven uniquely themed satellite islands, each decorated to reflect its story arc. Every region offers over 11 battle stages tied to the main narrative. Completing these stages unlocks an “Elite Mode” where players face even tougher foes. In addition to solo play, the game’s cooperative “Party Challenge” mode allows teams of up to three players to tackle demanding encounters together. In-game chat and voice functions ensure smooth coordination, enhancing the communal experience during high-stakes battles.

Precision Controls and Engaging PvP Action
Crystal of Atlan is designed for players who crave precision in combat. The game’s control scheme is tailored for both casual adventurers and competitive PvP enthusiasts. For example, the Gunner class benefits from auto-aim assistance as well as dedicated target-lock and switch features—ensuring fast, responsive play.

Beyond the PvE content, a robust PvP “Rank Match” mode offers both individual and 3v3 team battles. Victories here earn ranking points, allowing players to progress from Bronze to Challenger, independent of their equipment level.
