On January 23rd, Archosaur Games announced the termination of the development and launch plans for their in-house project, "Avatar: Return to Pandora." This decision reflects a strategic adjustment in response to an evaluation of the company's products and operations. The news of the project shutdown has been communicated to players through channels such as Weibo and WeChat public accounts.

"Avatar: Return to Pandora" was a game authorized by Disney, adapted from the popular film "Avatar." Developed using the Unreal Engine 4, the game combined shooting and MMORPG gameplay, featuring both PvP and PvE modes. It also supported features like base construction and free character customization. Over the years, it has been one of the key projects within Archosaur Games and had obtained official approval for release.

Initially published by Tencent, the game was unveiled at Tencent's annual gaming event in June 2022. However, in November of the same year, Archosaur Games unexpectedly announced a shift to self-publishing. Signs of underperformance may have surfaced around that time. The game underwent multiple rounds of testing overseas and commenced paid closed beta testing in China on January 11 this year, lasting only two weeks. The decision to discontinue the project raises speculation about the less-than-optimistic data from this recent testing phase.
